Social Issues
In Gandhi's time, there were 3 major social issues.
• The major social issue that Gandhi faced in his time was the inequality between the Indian and British rights. The British had greater power and more rights than the Indians. Many Indians suffered making this Gandhi's major issue. He fought for social justice and equal rights for the Indians in his country so that the British did not have more power over them but an equal life for everyone in their country.
• In the Hindu group, there was an immense difference in the upper and lower caste system. This created a heated debate about the role of women in their society. This was a great social issue because of the inequality in gender roles since women did not have the same opportunities as men.
• Many people didn’t have a feeling of dignity, fearlessness, and independence leading to low morale among followers. The people didn’t have the power of decision making of their own free will. This made it hard to resist the abuse of power from people who they thought were higher than them. This was a social issue because this was the way that the people saw themselves making it hard for any progress to come for change reform.
