Gandhi's leadership brought India together and gained independence for India. Gandhi started by leading many people to have peaceful changes. They boycotted and had many speeches to change the way things were at the time. Gandhi led them to protest on using many things connected to the British Association. There were fomentation against range salary, undoing of salt cost, cutting down military utilization, forcing commitment on outside fabric, etc. This led to major changes in the economy because of the need of Indians to use their money.
Mahatma Gandhi led the Quit India Movement. They took the motto: "Do or Die' and this was basically to get India to gather and become one to oppose the major British force in India. Through Gandhi's leadership and his Quit India Movement, India joined together. India became a strong force and overwhelmed the major British power and gained independence. Gandhi's character and wisdom is greatly admired and makes many people want to follow his influence.
Gandhi's Legacy
Although it might not be evident, Gandhi's work lives on today. His efforts and ideas spread throughout the world. Not only did his movements affect Indians to gain equal rights, it also inspired others throughout years to come.
Gandhi's legacy lives in the equal rights of many Indians, which he accomplished in his lifetime. His non-violence movements inspired great leaders we know today. One great person who many know today and exercised Gandhi's non-violent views is Martin Luther King Jr. Through Gandhi's inspiration, Martin Luther King Jr. inspired many African Americans to gain equal rights without violence. From this, African Americans progressively gained more rights. Another great leader was Nelson Mandela who also showed how Gandhi's views of non-violence could still prove effective no matter the circumstances. From that, Nelson Mandela gained many followers fighting white oppression in South Africa. Other influential leaders that Gandhi inspired were Cesar Chavez who advocated for farm workers and even the 14th Tibetan Dalai Lama saying that his views should be upheld in this new century. From them, Gandhi's legacy lives on; they show his ideas and his understanding of the world. Without Gandhi, many great leaders might not have been inspired to do the things they did. Without him, today might still be full of great inequality and oppression not only in India but also throughout the world.
